James Binnion

Mokume's rich history extends back to the time of the samurai.  Mokume gane, which translates from Japanese as "wood grain" or "curly (wood) grain" was originally used to ornament samurai sword fittings.  James Binnion is an internationally recognized master of mokume and pioneered the use of the electric kiln to laminate the metals.  He has been refining his methods in mokume for over 30 years, perfecting his designs and metal patterns, as well as teaching this unique craft.
